Optima: SAP Configurator Workbench 

Optima is a packaged solution for initiating, planning, assembling and implementing configurable objects from start to finish. Optima is available for SAP systems on R/3 46C forward. The Optima workbench is written in ABAP and Java to make the process of building the product configuration objects (characteristics, classes, rules, dependency nets etc.,) more efficient. The workbench comprises three major components:

• Constructor
  
• Distributor
  
• Reporter

Constructor enables a configurator to initiate, plan and build the knowledge base or profile for your configurable product. The repository of objects required for the KB/Profile will be maintained with source control; online validation of these objects at the entry point enables ECM and minimizes the rework. On assembling all prerequisites, they can be loaded into the VC development client through predefined interfaces built in the tool.

On successful validation of the Variant Objects, they can be moved to other test environment using the Distributor, an automated process that sequences the distribution and tracks the status of the objects at the target client. Analysis of existing objects in Production and under development will not be easier but for the reports provided under the Reporter.
